![]() Eldest Souls is very challenging but ultimately more frustrating than fun, more unfair than fair, unlike Furi and Cuphead which are both excellent boss rush games with kickass soundtracks. I do like the pixel art though, and no complaints with the low price. The music gets very old very fast, so I had to mute it. I was ready to rage-quit so many times, but it wasn't just spite that kept pulling me back. I just typed 'Eldest Souls' into the PS App on the Store section, and it returns this game and says 'this product entitles you to download the PS4 digital version and the PS5 digital version', so, you know it is a PS5 game. However, once it all clicks and you get to try different builds, it can be quite addictive. ![]() Make a mistake you're screwed, make another you're dead. Switching influences, Eldest Souls’ combat takes more inspiration from Bloodborne than it does Dark Souls, with a quicker pace and emphasis on aggression. I really dislike some of the core mechanics, e.g. The "rhythm" of the combat feels too heavy, it should be smoother and lighter, more responsive. Eldest Souls follows the good old soulslike formula of the player taking one, and the twelve different bosses a hundred hits to die, but even as a fan of the genre I'm not feeling it here.
